One way to describe meditation is that it is a state of being. A state that allows a part of us that is not identified with mind and body to observe the constant movements in mind and body. This unbiased observing helps direct understand of their nature. In the last few decades, scientists have done a number of experiments that are beginning to reveal observable proofs for the many benefits of meditation. From doctors to human resource managers to school teachers, many professionals have begun recommending meditation.
After many days of sitting in stillness, a good friend wrote this piece called "Anti-thesis of Addiction"

What we have done so far:
Until a few years ago, we knew about meditation only as a part of Yoga. After attending Wednesday sessions hosted so graciously by the Mehta Family, we have a slightly better understanding of meditation. Three years back, we did a 10 day Vipassana course at North Fork, CA. The practice, its benefits on our everday activities and temprament, and the discussions we have had on meditation with our friends have helped us in many ways. One of the most important benefit has been that our awareness of our own flaws have become more acute and frequent. While the awareness does not always covert to corrections, it has given us consistency in looking within which gives us a sense of 'being on course' even if the journey is slow.
What we intend to do:
We do not think that meditation is only for privileged few who have ascended Maslow's hierarchy. There is no reason why village people with all their predicaments would not be able to benefit from meditation if they are given the right opportunity and space. As with Yoga, we intend to open our Community Space for anyone interested in meditation to learn and practice it every day. While personally we practice Vipassana, we will work with local teachers of various types of meditation to help interested people to explore the type of meditation they are comfortable with. And we hope that it helps us and others to transcend our self-limiting mindset.
If you are a meditator, your sitting every day will give us the inspiration to be consistent in our practice. And the presence you carry will be our blessing.
